Where are you, Ovidio Lozada? / Ovidio Lozada, ¿Dónde estás?

English: San Antonio de los Altos (Venezuela) is chaotic and has been abandoned administratively. Our mayor, Ovidio Lozada is nowhere to be seen.

The picture shows a hole in the road that goes behind the Picacho Commercial Center and ends at the Pan American highway. There are no warning signs, and at night it is very dangerous.

I didn’t take a picture of a tragedy I saw this past week when a car fell at least ten meters down the mountain on the road from Candelaria to Potrerito. The driver had to be removed from her car by the firemen. The cause was the same: a road with damaged borders that was insufficiently indicated as dangerous.

Some months ago I approached a policeman to inform him of similar problem near where I live. He told me it wasn’t his responsibility to do anything about it, and that I should write a letter to the appropriate authorities. As I left his partner approached and asked, “What did that crybaby want?”

That is how we are protected around here these days.

Just for fun / Sólo para divertirse

English: When you look out of a well-known psychoanalyst’s waiting-room window, you can see this angel that is landing just above his office. Appropriately for the kind of office it is, the angel is a bit unsure of his footing.

Caracas: The Panamerican Highway this last Thursday / Caracas: La Panaméricana el jueves

English: Last Thursday we had a storm that collected at least ten centimeters of water in a dog dish in the center of my patio. I had left for Caracas before the rain began, travelling the Pan-American Highway. When I got to Cochecito the deluge started. It rapidly became a frightening torrent that poured a flood of wash-off from the the community's stairways and directed mud and water across the bridge that leads to the El Valle Highway exit.

English: In this picture you can se how the water falls off toward El Valle Highway.
